libxvidcore4 software package provides Open source MPEG-4 video codec (library), you can install in your Ubuntu 14.04 LTS (Trusty Tahr) by running the commands given below on the terminal,
$ sudo apt-get update $ sudo apt-get install libxvidcore4
libxvidcore4 is installed in your system.
Make ensure the libxvidcore4 package were installed using the commands given below,
$ sudo dpkg-query -l | grep libxvidcore4 *
You will get with libxvidcore4 package name, version, architecture and description in a table
